Originally, the Club was composed of men with European ancestry, but over the years, the composition of the Club has changed, and membership diversity continues to expand. Our Club updated its Bylaws in 1989, after Rotary International changed its Bylaws to require Clubs to accept women as members. Nancy Battersby became our first woman member in December 1989, and she also served as the first woman president of our Club in 1998-1999. During the 1990s, Latvian-born Irene Kalnins joined the Club, followed by Chinese-born George Wang and Puerto Rican native Guillo Rodríguez. In 2002-2003, during the presidency of Luis Ortiz, the Club welcomed its first African-Americans, Lee Moss and Ed Robinson.
