2020 Tonga Water Project

Our Rotary Club contributed funds for two water tanks for a primary school in the Village of Houma located on the island of Eua in the Kingdom of Tonga. This project came about at the request of Lonita Benson, a graduate of our local Webster Groves High School, who was serving in the Peace Corp in Houma. There were two water tanks in the school compound, but only one was suitable for drinking water, so school was frequently terminated after lunch due to a lack of potable water. Our club approved $2,600 for a 12,000 gallon water tank for the school and worked jointly with the Tongan Rotary Club of Nuku Alofa.
